...And so begins her life story outside the protection of their parents. At 17 , she married the first suitor who courted her, a man 12 years older than her. She received God's blessing , and by the age of 22 , she already had three sons , each born a year apart—a challenging situation for her age, but she never faltered in her role as a mother. Nor did she hesitate to attend school for four years, taking night classes to finish high school while her children slept . At 26 , she began working as a substitute teacher, filling in for teachers on maternity leave, a position that only required a High School diploma. The 1980s were not only the heyday of rock music in Spanish and English, but also the time when her desire to pursue a University Degree emerged. Although her circumstances prevented her from fulfilling her dream of studying Military Nursing, she chose to study what life offered her at that moment.
